Identify the fault below the shower outlet
A shower that drains slowly may have a hair and soap build-up close to the grate, but repeated blockages can also indicate a poorly aligned trap or damaged waste pipe. Bad smells can arise when a trap loses its water seal, when waste connections are compromised or when a ventilation issue affects the drainage system. We ask whether a nearby basin or toilet is also affected and whether water appears through the ceiling below. These clues prevent unnecessary replacement of a serviceable shower fitting.
