Separate temperature control from the hot-water supply
A shower that becomes suddenly too hot may involve a failed temperature-limiting valve, but the hot-water cylinder, cold-water pressure and user-operated mixer can produce similar symptoms. We begin by establishing whether only one bathroom is affected or several outlets change temperature together. The complaint should include whether fluctuations occur when another tap is opened, and whether the issue began following a cylinder, pump or bathroom alteration. Replacement without those observations can leave the underlying pressure imbalance untouched.
