Tap & Mixer Repairs and Installation Cape Town

A tap can leak from the outlet, under the handle or at the supply connection. Those failures have different causes, so our approach starts with the fixture design and where the water escapes.

A tap can leak from the outlet, under the handle or at the supply connection.

Diagnose dripping taps, stiff mixers, leaking spouts and damaged kitchen or bathroom tap connections.

01

A drip from the spout and a leak below the basin are different

When a closed tap continues dripping from the spout, worn internal seals, a valve seat or a cartridge may be involved. Water under the basin can instead come from a loose flexi connector, a deteriorated washer or a fitting joint. We check the supply side and the fixture rather than assuming a new mixer will fix every leak.

Single-lever mixers, two-handle taps and wall-mounted fittings use different operating mechanisms. Identifying the brand and model where possible helps us determine whether a compatible component can be fitted. Some older fittings have parts that are no longer practical to source, making full fixture replacement the more sensible option.

02

Changing a tap without damaging the surrounding finish

A replacement basin or kitchen mixer has to fit the available mounting hole, connection sizes and space beneath the sink. The installation also needs reliable isolation points, securely routed flexible connections and a watertight seal where the fixture passes through the surface.

On a countertop or sink already damaged by water, we inspect the condition around the mounting point before fitting the new tap. A loose mixer, soft cabinet base or failed splash seal can produce leaks even when the tap itself works correctly. These supporting defects should be explained before work proceeds.

03

Water temperature, flow and pressure complaints

A mixer that changes temperature abruptly may have a cartridge issue, but a broader hot-water or pressure imbalance can produce similar symptoms. If all taps are weak, the supply system deserves attention; if only one aerator delivers poorly, the fault is more likely local to that outlet.

We ask whether the change started after building work, a supply interruption, a new geyser or a fixture replacement. Those details reduce unnecessary part substitutions and help isolate the problem to the tap, isolation valve, supply pipe or upstream installation.

04

Preparing for an efficient tap appointment

Please identify whether the fixture is in a kitchen, bathroom, laundry or outdoor area. A clear photograph of the tap and accessible supply connections is useful, especially where a special finish or unusual mounting arrangement is involved.

If an old mixer is being replaced, confirm whether you already have the new fixture or need advice on compatibility. We can discuss finish choices, access restrictions and the extent of associated plumbing work before confirming the quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about tap & mixer repairs and installation

Can a dripping mixer be repaired without replacing it?

Often, if a compatible cartridge or seal is available and the body is in good condition. The mechanism must be identified first.

Why does my new tap have weak flow?

An aerator obstruction, partially closed isolation valve, connection problem or upstream pressure issue may be responsible.

Should I buy a mixer before the inspection?

You can, but the mounting arrangement and connection requirements should be checked for compatibility before installation.
