Some homes need a single circuit repaired; others require a phased or complete electrical rewire.

Assessment and planned upgrades of ageing, damaged or unsuitable domestic electrical wiring.

01

Old wiring does not automatically mean a whole-house rewire

Age is a useful clue, but the condition, installation method, circuit layout and test results matter more than the construction date alone. Repeated tripping, discoloured outlets, warm fittings or unexplained power loss all warrant investigation.

A property may contain several generations of alteration: a renovated kitchen, later outbuilding supply or extra sockets connected to older circuits. We map what exists and consider whether unaffected sections are safe and suitable before deciding how extensive the new work should be.

02

Planning the circuits around modern household loads

Kitchen appliances, electric geysers, laundry equipment, workshop tools and home offices have different supply needs. Rewiring gives an opportunity to place outlets sensibly, reduce dependence on extension leads and establish clear circuit separation.

We discuss the rooms being changed, appliance locations and future additions. The plan then considers cable sizing, protective devices, routing and distribution board capacity under applicable electrical requirements. A new outlet is not simply added to whichever wire is nearest.

03

Work inside occupied homes

Concealed wiring may require access through ceilings, wall chases, ducts or existing conduits. The method affects disruption, making-good work and sequencing with painters and builders. We agree on access and define what finishes are included before a project starts.

Where continued occupation is necessary, an appropriately planned phased programme may limit downtime. Temporary supply arrangements and the safe isolation of work areas require proper professional control; we do not promise continuous electricity throughout a rewire.

04

Testing, records and handover

Replaced circuits need inspection and suitable testing before energising. Clear labelling of the distribution board helps future fault finding, while documentation records what was changed and which parts of the installation were included.

Where a Certificate of Compliance is required, it must be issued through the correct registered and competent process. We distinguish the inspection scope from repairs required to resolve any non-compliant findings.

What determines the work required?

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about house rewiring & wiring upgrades

Must I move out during rewiring?

Not always. It depends on the extent of work, access needs and how safely circuits can be isolated in stages.

Can you rewire one room only?

Potentially, if the remaining installation is suitable and the updated circuit can be integrated compliantly.

Will rewiring include a new DB board?

Only where the existing board and protection are unsuitable for the required installation. The assessment determines that.
