Choose the water-quality goal before equipment
A taste-and-odour carbon cartridge addresses different concerns from sediment prefiltration or a reverse-osmosis unit. Customers sometimes buy a filter for a problem it is not designed to solve. We ask whether the supply is municipal drinking water, approved alternative water or a combination, and what the manufacturer certifies the unit to reduce. Untested water from a borehole cannot be assumed drinkable simply because it passes through a domestic filter. A water test may be appropriate when the source or problem is uncertain.
